William Whittle guilty of the murder of his wife, Alice, by striking her with an axe, in the parish of Farington on 6th March 1766.  He was also indicted for the murder of his two daughters - Margaret (2 years old) and Jennett (9 days old) , with an axe and knife, on the same day.  After execution hanged in chains at  Farrington.
